Ugh

I finally got to uploading photos, etc. so here it goes...LOL, this is when blogging becomes a burden!

The sale was fine, there will be another one in August. Moron that at another time.

I'm going to be tackling three books at a time each week. I'm calling it the RPM reading plan: Reading, Perusing, Mulling. I think my knack for stupid acronyms is about all I've retained from my time in "the office".

So here are the selections for the week of June 1st:

What's that? A list? A note? It's a special Mother's Day inscription from Tami to Sarah. It's written inside "You're Not the Boss of Me" (click to see what it says, it's a royal stroke-fest). Some would find that to be an irritant but I find it to be one of the many benefits of shopping at Goodwill (moron that later).

posting to be continued...

buying books online

Sometimes I find myself on a reading streak (now is one of those times). I cannot afford to constantly go out and buy new books so I mostly use paperbackswap.com (PBS) and half.com to receive the books I'm interested in.

I hate, hate, hate when people advertise (half.com) that their books are "brand new" or "like new" and when I get the damn thing it has smudges, the black marker closeout store slashy thing and is anything but new. PBS, I can't complain as most books exchanged arrive in acceptable condition.

"The Nanny Diaries" was a good and alarmingly accurate rendition of how it is to raise other people's children.

Since I'm usually a "one or the other", I won't be seeing the movie.

I like stories that take place in NYC or the UK.

The last two books I read had errors in them that most people would consider me nuts for being bugged by. The one called Hummel figurines "Hubbel" and the other attributed a quote from Breakfast Club to Sixteen Candles. I'm sure the authors meant to do that.

I'm off memoirs for a bit.

"Zippy" was good, a few to many references to the demise of pets and other animals for my taste, however.

I'm reading this one in honor of my trip to Indiana. Haven Kimmel, the author, grew up darn close to where I'm heading this week. This is my second attempt at reading this book.

I'm on a memoir streak. Truth is sometimes stranger and way more entertaining than fiction.

The Idiot Girls' Action-Adventure Club by Laurie Notaro and special thanks to Fifi for telling me about this hilarious author.

Monday

What the devil I'm reading now...

Alphabet Weekends by Elizabeth Noble...a nice story for chicks about old friends who test out whether they belong together over the course of 26 dates themed from A-Z.

When reading Ms. Noble's books, unless you are always reading in a quiet setting and can concentrate, it's best to keep notes on who's who and who they're related to, one hundred pages to go and I'm still trying to figure it out at times.
