NO FAIR

Wearen'tgoingwearen'tgoingwearen'tgoing!

Here's Char waiting on line for the AM1500 "Baby Walk" last year. He couldn't have been more hot and tired that day. His name? APPROVED!

Fuggedaboutit Friday

I believe it's been about 24 years since my uncle took us to this restaurant in NYC. The experience was that unforgettable.

It was then that I fell in love with the city that never sleeps. Thanks to Fifi for making certain I had a good time every time I went there following.

buying books online

Sometimes I find myself on a reading streak (now is one of those times). I cannot afford to constantly go out and buy new books so I mostly use paperbackswap.com (PBS) and half.com to receive the books I'm interested in.

I hate, hate, hate when people advertise (half.com) that their books are "brand new" or "like new" and when I get the damn thing it has smudges, the black marker closeout store slashy thing and is anything but new. PBS, I can't complain as most books exchanged arrive in acceptable condition.

I have a headache this big...

and it has "don't even look at the computer" written all over it. I hope you have a good day. :o/

"The Nanny Diaries" was a good and alarmingly accurate rendition of how it is to raise other people's children.

Since I'm usually a "one or the other", I won't be seeing the movie.

answering the phone back in the day

The pressure was on to say "WMAQ is gonna make me rich" rather than "hello" when answering the phone in the 312 area code, lest you be the reason your parents didn't win ten grand.

I like stories that take place in NYC or the UK.

The last two books I read had errors in them that most people would consider me nuts for being bugged by. The one called Hummel figurines "Hubbel" and the other attributed a quote from Breakfast Club to Sixteen Candles. I'm sure the authors meant to do that.

Friday

Fuggedaboutit Friday

I cooked polenta last night (I forgot to take a photo). It's worth trying if you never have before, heaven knows where I've been that I didn't do it sooner.

I'm off memoirs for a bit.

The password is...Joan Collins

Today I was going over the DVR list of recorded programs after just watching Graham Norton's show on BBCA (Sharon Gless, Tyne Daly & Natalie Imbruglia were guests on that episode). Within two minutes I read on the DVR that Joan was one of the guests another of the recorded Graham Norton shows, she had just been on a commercial for Footballer's Wives AND exactly when I switched back to the channel I was originally watching (Game Show Network), Joan Collins was the answer on Super Password (circa early 80s).

A fair to forget

2006's trip to the fair was crazy, mad, nuts...we've had a note on the fridge since the moment we walked in the door last year stating we should go to the 2007 fair on a Monday or Thursday (we must've gone on a Friday).

Given the fact that funnel cake would take up an entire day's WW points, I just don't think we'll be in attendance this time around as I go there to eat and not for much else.

We'll go there next year as it's amusing to count the number of Democrat vs. Republican buttons and balloons.

Very descriptive.

Wednesday

from the floor at Walmart

As I was pulling out of the driveway I saw my next door neighbor walking around her front yard. I thought about how I never run into her in public. Guess who was at Walmart (not really close to home, 10+ miles away)? Odd.

About this list: At first I thought it said "nice gun" and what an effort this list maker made to crinkle up the paper, did they think it would just get swept away? She/he must have picked up the shorts, capris and underwear last because it was found in the ladies department.

This blog has reached 100 posts!

(Take 3...ack!)

I realize I'm not the first to make this observation...

The hurricane tracker looks quite like Aqua Teen Hunger Force's Meatwad.

I like the idea of a milk man bringing the goods in glass bottles. The shakes aren't bad at the Oberweis Dairy Store.

These lucky stiffs live near an Oberweis Dairy Store which is why they can't forget the bottles & the Moola Card is attached. Which brings me to my next thing I like...

I think this little segment is going to end up being more like "beverages I like". I've noticed in my efforts to lose 17.2 (now 10) lbs. that most of my calories come from liquids, ack!

Again with the paper towels and they're apparently getting a gift for Abe Vigoda.

It said, "makes wiping yourself easy and fun"

I had to replay the Kandoo commercial four times before I caught exactly what it was showing and saying to me because at first I thought it said, "makes pooping yourself easy and fun."

What the hell is this Kandoo and why is he wiping himself on my tank? Oh by the way, there is nothing fun about potty training.

Fuggedaboutit Friday

Nobody understands why I didn't dine at any of these three places when I was in IL last week. Lou's-best pizza, Ricobene's-for very good sandwiches (an all time favorite of The Nutshell) & there's nothing wrong with Gino's East. As far as I can read, while they're growing at a steady pace, none of these places have branched out of the Chicago area...savvy indeed.

since Mr. Owl asked

The dum dums were 50 cents each, one dollar for both. I didn't ask the poll question very well so everybody but the logically thinking individual who said 10 cents wins.

Monday

Gee! P.S.

Stob! Look at a map at the same time you program your GPS, lest you wish to take a magical misery tour!
I had a lot of time on my hands last week when road tripping so I didn't mind (much) taking the long, winding and sometimes slow country roads through Amish country, resort towns, fields, farms and other exotic locales.

Hey, at least we went to a Dog N' Suds. They didn't take credit cards so I couldn't buy the t-shirt (this time).

A Tale of Two Ceilings

An Army Duck in The Wisconsin Dells, which easily can be described as a WT wonderland and The Bellagio in LasVegas, where anyone can have a really nice time or get into a world of trouble.

Sunday

on the road again

If you've never seen the website "Roadside America", I suggest that you visit it, pronto. Click on the Muffler Man below to get there. It's what my blog wants to be when it grows up.

In the meantime, I'm just hoping for another uneventful trip from Illinois to Minnesota. It's funny, lately I find myself hoping for most things to be uneventful and if they turn out to be the good kind of memorable, that's just a bonus and praise be for all that.

Does your Starbucks have a collection basket for customers to send coffee to the soldiers? If so, consider donating, it's a nice thing to do! :)
