Friday

Saw it, loved it, will see it again and again...

Ugh

I finally got to uploading photos, etc. so here it goes...LOL, this is when blogging becomes a burden!

The sale was fine, there will be another one in August. Moron that at another time.

I'm going to be tackling three books at a time each week. I'm calling it the RPM reading plan: Reading, Perusing, Mulling. I think my knack for stupid acronyms is about all I've retained from my time in "the office".

So here are the selections for the week of June 1st:

What's that? A list? A note? It's a special Mother's Day inscription from Tami to Sarah. It's written inside "You're Not the Boss of Me" (click to see what it says, it's a royal stroke-fest). Some would find that to be an irritant but I find it to be one of the many benefits of shopping at Goodwill (moron that later).

posting to be continued...

Saturday

away from blogging

I am getting ready for my second annual garage (grog) sale. Posting on this blog, if any, will be at a minimum for well over a week. Good luck.

Friday

signs, overhead and overheard

signs from last weekend The second one is an eagle at the Komen walk...Overheard: "it's a sign."

Tuesday

it doesn't get much funnier

"Stuff White People Like"is the ultimate blog. He's on #99 (as of yesterday) and while I don't know much about some of the things he mentions, I can relate and nod my head about most. I think #9 is my favorite. Too funny. Thanks to Co for showing me that one. Link is on the left.

True luck consists not in holding the best of the cards at the table; luckiest is he who knows just when to rise and go home.

I used to listen to public radio a lot. I rarely take the time to listen anymore so thankfully This American Life has a podcast and now on Showtime. The "Ask an Iraqi" segment on TV prompted me to mention Ira (almost 50, what?).

Monday

some of our renditions are better than some of our other renditions

If you don't have the time to hear Marvin or Whitney, at least give Hillary a listen...It's the good stuff.

Mother's Day was very nice. We walked for the cure, had a nice lunch, walked through Underwater Adventure twice, went to historic Kelley Farm & then out for a couple plates of cheap but good Chinese buffet (suspend your disbelief, if you will, as the six year olds are restocking the salad bar).

Saturday

Happy Mother's Day

Women's Liberation is just a lot of foolishness. It's the men who are discriminated against. They can't bear children. And no one's likely to do anything about that. ~Golda Meir

what I thought about at 3:30 am

The Mormon TC doesn't seem to allow for a link so here's a stunning rendition from Brooklyn.

That's right, DQ. My parents used to bring me to the one in Elk Grove Village back in the day. I would get a small crunch cone & a free whistle. Now it's just "something different" and the whistles are now vintage and worth $9 each.

hair it is

My hair started to fall out after having Mr. Toddlerpants. That stopped happening after a couple months but to say it has changed since then would be an understatement. It seems to be growing back now, but if that wasn't the case I'd totally go with a modified mohawk as seen on TV's Top Chef (no energy to find photos). Here's about as close as I'll get until the hot flashes hit and I either do it for real or go for dreadlocks (or just wear a ponytail, LOLA). Although since I have young children, I may spare them a mom with whacked hair until they're adults.

To Co: Here are 20 of the many foods you can eat without a care. I got this from "Foods That Cause You to Lose Weight" by Dr. Neal Barnard. I have more from other lists that I will be glad to give you. No full fat toppings should be used. Good luck and watch for bugs in your vegetables from Nicollet's Mall.

song stuck in my head

There's actually a YouTube video of Bonnie Raitt performing this but the person recording it felt the need to talk over it so it's not blog-worthy.

DIRTY WORK, Steely Dan

Times are hard
You're afraid to pay the fee
So you find yourself somebody
Who can do the job for free
When you need a bit of lovin'
Cause your man is out of town
That's the time you get me runnin'
And you know I'll be around

CHORUS:
I'm a fool to do your dirty work
Oh yeah
I don't wanna do your dirty work
No more
I'm a fool to do your dirty work
Oh yeah

Light the candle
Put the lock upon the door
You have sent the maid home early
Like a thousand times before
Like the castle in its corner
In a medieval game
I foresee terrible trouble
And I stay here just the same

turning two part two

His birthday was a busy day. We had photographs taken, went to the science museum, went to lunch at our favorite alien themed restaurant and then to Chuck E Cheese for video game play. I think he had a good birthday :)

Thursday

day out with Mr. Toddlerpants

I figure as long as he doesn't mind sitting in his stroller, we'll go places and do things so he can calmly see nice things. A couple days after his birthday, he and I went to Como Park in St. Paul. Truth be told, I was also hoping to catch a whiff of the "corpse flower" but it was gone from the conservatory by then.
